Torex Semiconductor Ltd. (Tokyo Japan: President, Takeshi Kimura, TSE Prime: 6616) has launched the XD6138 series, a new voltage detector compliant with the automotive reliability standard AEC-Q100.
The XD6138 series is a voltage detector featuring a separate power supply pin and voltage detection pin (sense pin). The sense pin supports high withstand voltage 76V operation. This allows direct monitoring of 12V/24V and similar power lines without using divided resistance, such as conventional low withstand voltage products.Even when the ACC (accessory) power supply is off, a constant current (dark current) flows to back up the power supply for clocks, car navigation systems, and ECU memory. By eliminating the need for a voltage divider, this IC helps reduce dark current while also contributing to higher precision, saving space, and improving reliability (Figure 1).
General voltage detectors allow only the detection voltage to be freely while the release voltage is pre-set by the hysteresis width (approximately detection voltage × 5%). However, with this product, the user can configure both the detection voltage and the release voltage. By setting a wider hysteresis width than conventional products, the IC prevents false detections caused by chattering, which may occur when the battery voltage fluctuates significantly during engine cranking (Figure 2).Both High and Low detection logic options are available, allowing not only undervoltage detection, which is commonly used, but also overvoltage detection.
The delay time can be externally adjusted using an external capacitor making it possible to select the detection/release delay time ratio. A manual reset function is also provided making possible forced reset by dropping the Cd/MRB pin to the VSS level. The operating temperature range supports high-temperature operation up to 125°C, making it well-suited for automotive applications, the IC also complies with AEC-Q100 Grade 1.
The package lineup includes the SOT-25 (2.9×2.8×1.3mm), which offers excellent mounting efficiency and reworkability (Figure 3).
With the increasing electrification of automobiles, power consumption and mounting space requirements are becoming more critical than ever. The XD6138 series meets these evolving automotive demands with its advanced features and high reliability.
