Torex Semiconductor Ltd. (Tokyo Japan: President, Takeshi Kimura, TSE Prime: 6616) has developed a new step-down DC/DC converter, the XC9711 Series.

The XC9711 Series features high-voltage capability, low output ripple, and high-temperature operation, enabling stable low-ripple 3.3V / 5V output even from unstable 24V input power sources. It also offers strong tolerance to input overshoot and harsh thermal environments, supporting operation at ambient temperatures of up to 125°C. These characteristics make the series suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, including FA sensors as well as security equipment for factories and building facilities.

The XC9711 Series is a synchronous step-down DC/DC converter using a bootstrap architecture with Built-in Nch–Nch driver FETs. It supports an input voltage range of 4.5V to 60V, an adjustable output voltage range of 2.5V to 18.0V, and an output current of up to 1.0A, delivering high-efficiency and stable power. The switching frequency is 800kHz, and the operating mode can be selected via the MODE pin between PWM control and PWM/PFM control.

In PWM mode, the switching frequency remains constant regardless of load, simplifying noise reduction measures. In PWM/PFM mode, high efficiency is achieved from light load to heavy load conditions. The series realizes a compact solution size of 10.8 × 8.2 mm, which is among the smallest in the 60V input class, achieving both compact size, low power consumption, and high efficiency at light loads. This helps reduce standby power consumption of equipment, and by replacing medium- to high-voltage LDOs with this product, both thermal issues and PCB area can be reduced simultaneously.

With user-friendly features such as high-voltage 60V operation, saving space, and high efficiency at light loads, the XC9711 Series is suitable for a wide range of applications including FA equipment, industrial equipment, and sensors.

The output voltage can be adjusted using external resistors, allowing the same product to be used across multiple power supply lines. By connecting a resistor and capacitor to the EN/SS pin, the soft-start time can be externally adjusted to be longer than the internal soft-start. In addition, a power-good function monitors the output voltage status. The combination of the adjustable soft-start function and power-good function enables easy configuration of power sequencing.

For protection, the device integrates current limiting, output overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, and LX pin short-circuit protection, ensuring safe operation.
